Privacy Policy
Academic Year 2026 – 2027 · Last updated 27 October 2026
Kaah International Academy ("the Academy", "we", "us") is a private, co-educational school in Garowe, Puntland, Somalia. This policy explains what personal information we collect about students, parents and guardians, and visitors to our school and to this website, how we use it, and how we protect it. It reflects the commitments in our Home and School Partnership, Code of Conduct, and Examination Registration, Rules and Regulations for 2026 – 2027.
1. Information we collect
Through this website
- Admission application form: the student's name, age, class or grade and city, and the parent or guardian's name, relationship to the student, telephone number, email address, home address and preferred enrolment date.
- Contact form: your name, email address, telephone number, and the subject and content of your message.
When a student joins the Academy

- Emergency contact names and numbers, and any allergy, chronic condition, medication or dietary requirement you tell us about.
- Records of your child's attendance, progress and behaviour, and of any accident or illness at school.
For external examinations such as the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE: the student's full name as shown on official documents, date and place of birth, registration number, grade or year, subjects, parent or guardian contact details, identification documents, a passport-size photograph where required, and previous examination information.
For collection and visits: the signature of every person who collects a child from reception; for a driver engaged by a parent, a copy of a valid driving licence and identity document; and the details visitors record in the visitors' book.
2. How we use your information
- To consider admission applications, arrange placement assessments and reply to you.
- To teach, supervise and care for your child, and to contact you the same day if your child is hurt, taken ill or absent without explanation.
- To report on your child's progress, and to tell you in good time about changes to the timetable, calendar, fees or school arrangements.
- To register candidates with external examination boards and to receive their results.
- To make sure a child is released only to a person who has identified themselves and signed for them.
- To answer questions sent to us through this website.
3. Confidentiality and sharing
Information you give the Academy about your child and your family is treated as confidential and is shared only with the people who need it. Every member of staff is bound by a duty of confidentiality and must use the school's approved communication channels; confidential student information may not be shared through unauthorised channels.
We share personal information outside the Academy only where it is needed:
- with an examination board, for entries, access arrangements and results;
- with a medical facility, if your child needs treatment;
- where it is necessary to protect a child's safety, under our Child Protection, Safeguarding and Children's Rights Policy; or
- where the law requires it.
4. Photographs and video
- The Academy takes photographs and videos of school life, lessons, events and ceremonies, and may use them for publicity, display and social media, including this website and our Facebook page.
- If you do not want photographs or videos of your child to be used, please tell the office in writing in advance — at registration, or before the start of each term or school event — so that we can make sure your child is not included.
- You can tell the office at any time. If a photograph of your child has already been published and you would like it removed, please contact the office.
- Staff may not photograph or film students on personal devices.
- Visitors and volunteers may not photograph or film students, or post anything about the school or its students on social media.
- We ask parents to protect the privacy of other students and families, and not to share their images or information without permission.
5. Health and support needs
Medical information and dietary requirements are shared only with the staff who care for your child. Applications for examination access arrangements are handled confidentially.
6. Keeping information accurate
Please tell the office on the day your telephone number, address or emergency contact changes, so that we can always reach you. For examination entries, check the spelling of your child's name and the date of birth before you sign: an error can invalidate an entry with the examination board and cannot always be corrected afterwards.
7. This website
- Forms submitted on this website are received by the Academy's administration.
- The website uses cookies that it needs in order to work, for example to submit forms securely.
- The embedded Google map and our Facebook page are provided by those companies and are covered by their own privacy policies.
8. Seeing and correcting your information
You may ask the office what information the Academy holds about your child and ask for it to be corrected.
9. Questions and concerns
Questions about this policy can be sent to the school office. A concern about the safety or wellbeing of any child should be brought to the Child Protection and Safeguarding Focal Person through the office.
